​About: This is a USCF Quick-Rated chess tournament for students in grades K-8. This tournament is a good option for players new to rated chess tournaments!

Where: Saline High School Media Center

Date: Sunday, February 25th

Time: 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM

Format: 5 Round USCF Quick- Rated Swiss Tournament

Time Control: g/15; d3

Rounds: 1:30, 2:10, 2:50, 3:30, 4:10 with a brief awards ceremony at 4: 50 PM.

Sections: There will be 2 Sections, Open and Reserve (with cutoff around u400)

Prizes: The champion of each section will receive trophy, while top 5 receive medals

USCF Membership: All players MUST have an active USCF chess membership! Go to www.uschess.org for more information.

Cost: $15

Hornet Chess Challenge - Saturday, March 9th, 2024

​About: This is a USCF-rated chess tournament for any student in grades K-12 in Saline and the surrounding area!

Where: Saline High School Media Center

Date: March 9th, 2024

Time: 8:00 AM - 3:00 PM

Format: 5 Round USCF Rated Swiss System Tournament

Rounds: 9:00 AM, 10:00 AM, 11:00 AM, 12:00 PM, 1:00 PM, with a brief awards ceremony at 2:15 PM.

Sections: There will be 3 sections:  “Open” section, a “u800” section, and a “u400” section. 

Prizes: The top 5 in each section will receive a trophy or a medal.

Cost: $20
